Record numbers of people stayed at camping grounds in North and East Iceland over the weekend. At ?sbyrgi, where temperatures reached 27?C (80.6?F), and Hallormsta?ur campers had to be turned away due to lack of space, ruv.is reports.

The weather was warm and sunny across most parts of Iceland yesterday and the outlook is good for the next few days after a cool start to the summer.

Einar G?slason at Visit H?sav?k tourist office?told visir.is?that both Icelanders and tourists are following the good weather. ?There are an unusually large number of Icelanders at the camping ground. I spoke to one of them from Selfoss yesterday and he said that he would spend the summer in the North instead of in the rain and wind in the south, which is understandable,? he said.
