We?ve been ourselves in all too familiar sad situation over the last couple of weeks, stuck in between wanting to update you iDevices to the latest iOS firmware and not knowing when we will have a functional jailbreak and unlock with iOS 6.1.4/6.1.3 untethered available. Keeping the history in our minds, we now should be able to easy rest that the researchers such as SoftRa1n have always finally managed to escape the restrictions put in place to bring a jailbreak and unlock to the masses and there will always remain a lettle part within us that has doubts when Apple released a new version of iOS.

This is a good news for all who accidently updated to iOS 7,6.1.4/6.1.3, and they have found themselves being restricted out on the new firmware, with having no way to get back to iOS7, 6.1.4/6.1.3. AppleUnlocker is maybe one of the the easiest jailbreak and unlock iPhone 5/4S/4/3Gs and iPad 2/3 app that we?ve used in recent times. All you have to do is to click one ?Jailbreak? button to jailbreak iPhone 5/4S/4 and 3Gs and the iPad 2/3 iOaS 6.1.3.

Well this days, after testing the tool on his iPhone 5/4 running the latest iOS 6.1.4/6.1.3 firmware, a known member has confirmed via Twitter that AppleUnlocker is working that ultimately means that we all are now free to update your iOS devices to iOS 6.1.4/6.1.3. With the iOS 7, 6.1.4/6.1.3 untethered jailbreak being finished and successfully tested, the team have included the tool with exploits in the new version of AppleUnlocker tool that was introduced to all users as a unlock and jailbreak solution for iOS 7, 6.1.4/6.1.3 untethered working on iPhone 5/4/4S/3Gs and iPad 2/3. One of the main benefits of the tool is taht the simplicity of the interface, with guidance is provided all the way with a few clicks to get the job finished.

As a part of that they?r hard work, AppleUnlocker Team has released the necessary solution to their untethered jailbreak and unloack iPhone 5/4/4S/3Gs and iPad 2/3 tool, which first version was released last year. AppleUnloacker is an extremely simple 1 Click tool which now is allowing users to insert the necessary files into their idevices so that they can have the untethered jailbreak and unlock. If you happen to be waiting with a iOS 6.1.4/6.1.3 gadget in your hands, then please read on AppleUnlocker official website for the full information on how to use the app to achieve an untethered unlock and jailbreak on the iOS 6.1.4/6.1.3.

Harford Community College to host living history performance featuring Kate Campbell Stevenson as environmentalist Rachel Carson on July 14

A living history performance,?part of a series organized by the Maryland Humanities Council and other local partners, comes to Harford Community College July 14 featuring?Kate Campbell Stevenson performing as environmentalist?Rachel Carson. Here are the details:

HARFORD COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO HOST CHAUTAUQUA FEATURING RACHEL CARSON

Harford Community College will host a Chautauqua living history performance on July 14, at 4 PM, in the Chesapeake Theater. The performance, which is free and open to the general public, will feature Kate Campbell Stevenson performing as the mother of the environmental movement Rachel Carson, author of The Silent Spring.

A dramatic reading by Ben Fisler, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Theatre at Harford Community College and regional professional actor, will open the performance. Dr. Fisler will present ecologically-focused selections from the works of such early twentieth-century playwrights as Henrik Ibsen, Anton Chekov, and August Strindberg. These pieces will help demonstrate how the spirit of environmental responsibility brewed in literature and the performing arts of the previous half-century, literally setting the stage for Rachel Carson?s work.

The performance at Harford Community College is co-sponsored by several departments and other units within the College, including the Division of Library & Information Resources, the STEM Division, the Humanities Division, the Office of Student Activities, and the Sustainability Committee. The show will also include an overview of the many ways in which the College has actively promoted environmental awareness and taken steps to make practices at the College ?green.?

The Chautauqua is part of a series organized by the Maryland Humanities Council (MHC) in conjunction with local partners statewide. Live local musical and theatrical acts open each show. Living history performances are followed by question and answer sessions, which often spark spirited conversation and provides informative family fun. Audiences will hear from the voices of Jackie Robinson, Rachel Carson, and Amelia Earhart. Via partnership with the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance, the July 6 performance (Rachel Carson), will be live streamed; audiences will be able to access the performance via the MHC homepage at www.mdhc.org. Visit www.mdhc.org to access a statewide schedule or to learn more.

Chautauqua is made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival, Garrett College, the Community College of Baltimore County, the College of Southern Maryland, Montgomery College, the Historical Society of Talbot County, Avalon Theatre, Warren Kilmer and Judith Needham, the Talbot County Arts Council, the Town of Perryville, Cecil County Public Library, Delmarva Power, Cecil Tourism, Harford Community College, and MHC donors. MHC is a statewide educational nonprofit that uses the humanities (literature, history, archaeology, poetry, etc.) to promote civic engagement and informed dialogue about critical issues.

For more information about the HCC performance, contact Carol Allen, Director, Library & Information Resources, 443-412-2144 or CaAllen@harford.edu .

U.S. investors stuck in emerging markets crunch - Howard Gold's No ...

By Howard Gold

Guanabara Bay at daybreak in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) ? Emerging markets have taken it on the chin this year, but U.S. investors who piled into them are really feeling the pain.

The iShares MSCI Emerging Markets index ETF /quotes/zigman/322623/quotes/nls/eem EEM +0.57% ? has lost 16% of its value since its recent high in January ? and unlike U.S. indexes, which have made all-time highs this year, it?s still a third below its 2007 peak.

That suggests major emerging markets ? especially the popular BRIC countries ? are in a long-term, secular bear market, leaving little hope for investors counting on outsized returns.

Wall Street?s siren song of ?buy where the growth is,? combined with an aversion to an America supposedly in decline, led many U.S. investors to plow recklessly into emerging markets even as they yanked hundreds of billions from U.S. stocks ? which have handily outperformed emerging markets for nearly two years.

Mortgage rates surge to a two-year high, and more

Freddie Mac Reports the first time mortgage rates reach above four percent since March 2012, President Barack Obama says he will not engage in "horse trading" for Edward Snowden, and hundreds of mourners including some of hollywood's biggest names turn out to pay tribute to award-winning actor, James Gandolfini.

This column warned investors that emerging markets had had their day as early as August 2011, and last April we scratched our heads as U.S. investors continued to pile into these former high flyers.

Read Gold?s analysis of why U.S. investors flocked to emerging markets in MoneyShow.com.

U.S. investors started pouring money into emerging markets during their mid-2000s heyday. But from 2008 through 2012, they bought more than $1 trillion worth of bond funds while also snapping up $77.7 billion of emerging market equity funds, according to the Investment Company Institute.

And yet investors sold nearly $600 billion ? that?s right, $600 billion ? in U.S. equity funds during that same period.

But recently, it?s been a bloodbath, as investors dumped $18 billion in emerging market equity funds over the past 10 weeks, according to Morgan Stanley.

Talk about betting on the wrong horse!

/conga/story/misc/dc.html 268995

No doubt they?ve gotten bad advice from Wall Street and independent advisers who urged them to allocate more money to the world?s fastest growing economies. Unfortunately, academic research ? by Jay Ritter at the University of Florida and Elroy Dimson, Paul Marsh and Mike Staunton at the London Business School ? has shown conclusively that faster economic growth doesn?t necessarily produce bigger stock market gains. But I still hear gurus and pundits peddling this tired story.

Also, it must be said, many U.S. investors are in a deep funk about their own country, worried about debt, the U.S. dollar, and the Federal Reserve?s extraordinarily loose monetary policy. That has led them to overinvest in precious metals, foreign currencies and emerging market stocks and bonds while avoiding the U.S. like the plague.

Neighbor testifies about Martin-Zimmerman fight

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) ? A neighbor of George Zimmerman who had perhaps the best view of the struggle between the neighborhood watch volunteer and Trayvon Martin testified at Zimmerman's murder trial Friday that it appeared the unarmed teen was straddling Zimmerman during their confrontation.

However, Jonathan Good said he did not see anyone's head being slammed into the concrete sidewalk, which Zimmerman has said Martin did to him. Good initially testified that it appeared "there were strikes being thrown, punches being thrown," but during detailed questioning he said he saw only "downward" arm movements being made.

Zimmerman has claimed that he fatally shot 17-year-old Martin last year in self-defense as the Miami-area teen was banging his head into the concrete sidewalk behind the townhomes in a gated community.

But under prosecution questioning, Jonathan Good said he never saw anyone being attacked that way during the fight between Zimmerman and Martin.

"I couldn't see that," Good said moments later while being cross-examined.

Good, the second person to take the witness stand Friday, said he heard a noise behind his townhome in February 2012, and he saw what looked like a tussle when he stepped out onto his patio to see what was happening.

He said he yelled, "What's going on? Stop it."

Good testified he saw a person in black clothing on top of another person with "white or red" clothing. He said he couldn't see faces but it looked like the person on the bottom had lighter skin. Martin was black and was wearing a dark hoodie. Zimmerman identifies as Hispanic and was wearing a red jacket.

"It looked like there were strikes being thrown, punches being thrown," Good said.

Later, under cross-examination, he said that it looked like the person on top was straddling the person on bottom in a mixed-martial arts move known as "ground and pound." When defense attorney Mark O'Mara asked him if the person on top was Martin, Good said, "Correct, that's what it looked like."

Good also said the person on the bottom yelled for help.

During cross-examination, O'Mara got on his knees to recreate the fighting as he asked Good to walk him through it.

Good was in the middle of dialing 911 inside his townhome when he heard a gunshot, he said.

Zimmerman, 29, could get life in prison if convicted of second-degree murder. Zimmerman followed Martin in his truck and called a police dispatch number before he and the teen got into a fight.

Zimmerman has denied the confrontation had anything to do with race, as Martin's family and their supporters have claimed.

A second former neighbor of Zimmerman testified after Good. Jonathan Manalo, whose wife had testified earlier in the week, was the first neighbor to step outside and see what happened with his flashlight after he heard a gunshot. He took cellphone photos of a bloodied Zimmerman and Martin's body, and those photos were shown to jurors on Friday. Manalo also described Martin's hands as being under his body.

Manalo said Zimmerman didn't appear shocked and acted calmly. After police officers arrived and handcuffed Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer asked Manalo to call his wife and tell her what happened.

Manalo started to tell Zimmerman's wife that her husband had been involved in a shooting and was being questioned by police when "he cut me off and said, 'Just tell her I shot someone,'" Manalo said.

Before Good testified, a worker at a video surveillance company that maintains cameras at the townhome community took the witness stand. A prosecutor played two videos from surveillance cameras; one showed what looks like a person walking past a window at the complex's clubhouse, and another showed what looks like a light by the complex's mailboxes.

Greg McKinney said the digital clock on the video is off by 18 minutes, a point O'Mara hammered home by getting McKinney to concede the timing difference was inexact and could be more than 18 minutes.

Jurors already have been shown some of the state's biggest pieces of evidence, including the 911 call featuring cries for help prosecutors believe came from Martin.

On Thursday, a friend of Martin who had been on the phone with him when he was shot testified about what she heard during his confrontation with Zimmerman.

Obama: Marriage benefits should cross state lines

DAKAR, Senegal (AP) ? President Barack Obama on Thursday praised the Supreme Court's ruling on gay marriage as a "victory for American democracy" and said recognition for same-sex unions should cross state lines.

Obama's remarks came in his first stop on a planned weeklong African tour, in a country that outlaws homosexuality. He said while he respects differing religious views on the matter, he wants to send a message to Africans as well about the importance of nondiscrimination under the law.

"People should be treated equally and that's a principal that I think applies universally," he said.

Obama spoke at a news conference after a private meeting with Senegalese President Macky Sall in which Obama said gay rights did not come up. Sall responded that Senegal leads "a very tolerant country" and anti-gay laws are not being prosecuted, "but we are still not ready to decriminalize homosexuality."

"We are still not ready," Sall said, adding that "does not mean we are homophobic."

Obama said he's directing his administration to comb through every federal statute to quickly determine the implications of Wednesday's ruling, which gave the nation's legally married gay couples equal federal footing with all other married Americans.

He said he wants to make sure that gay couples who deserve benefits under the law get them quickly. Obama said he personally believes that gay couples legally married in one state should retain their benefits if they move to another state that doesn't recognize gay marriage.

"I believe at the root of who we are as a people as Americans is the basic represent that we are all equal under the law," he said. "We believe in basic fairness. and what I think yesterday's ruling signifies is one more step towards ensuring that those basic principles apply to everybody."

Obama also offered prayers for former South African President Nelson Mandela, who is gravely ill, ahead of Obama's planned visit to his country this weekend. Obama credited Mandela's example in the anti-apartheid movement of being willing to sacrifice his life for a belief in equal treatment with inspiring Obama's own political activism.

"If and when he passes from this place, his legacy is one that will linger on throughout the ages," Obama said.

Later Obama plans to reflect on the ties many African-Americans share with the continent as he takes a tour of Goree Island, Africa's westernmost point. Africans reportedly were shipped off into slavery across the Atlantic Ocean through the island's "Door of No Return."

Thousands of boisterous revelers welcomed Obama's motorcade Thursday morning in Dakar, cheering and waving homemade signs as the first African-American president made his way to the presidential palace. A large sign outside his hotel gate had pictures of smiling Obama and Sall that read, "Welcome home, President Obama.."

Some in the crowd drummed, danced and sang, and many wore white as a symbol for peace. Sall and his wife, Marieme Faye Sall, greeted Obama and first lady Michelle Obama before entering the palace for a bilateral meeting between the two presidents.

Obama's focus in Senegal is on the modern-day achievements of the former French colony after half a century of independence. Sall ousted an incumbent president who attempted to change the constitution to make it easier for him to be re-elected and pave the way for his son to succeed him. The power grab sparked protests, fueled by hip-hop music and social media, that led to Sall's election.

"Senegal is one of the most stable democracies in Africa," Obama said. "It's moving in the right direction."

But such people-powered democratic transitions are not always the story of the African experience. Fighting and human rights abuses limited Obama's options for stops in his first major tour of sub-Saharan Africa since he took office more than four years ago. Obama is avoiding his father's homeland, Kenya, whose president has been charged with war crimes, and Nigeria, the country with the continent's most dominant economy. Nigeria is enveloped in an Islamist insurgency and military crackdown.

Obama's itinerary in Senegal was designed to send a message, purposefully delivered in a French-speaking, Muslim-majority nation, to other Africans in countries that have not made the strides toward democracy that Senegal has. Obama plans to meet with civil society leaders at the Goree Institute and visit the Supreme Court to speak about the importance of an independent judiciary and the rule of law in Africa's development.

Paid sick time law passes in NYC, veto overridden

NEW YORK (AP) ? New York City is becoming the most populous place in the United States to make businesses provide workers with paid sick time, after lawmakers overrode a mayoral veto early Thursday to pass a law expected to affect more than 1 million workers.

With the vote, the city joined Portland, Ore.; San Francisco; Seattle; Washington, D.C.; and the state of Connecticut in requiring the benefit for at least some workers. Similar measures have failed in some other places, including Milwaukee, Denver and Philadelphia.

Supporters see the New York measure as a pace-setter, although it has some significant limits and conditions, and they envision such laws becoming a national norm in coming years.

"The catalyst will have been the successful struggle we waged here in New York City," said Dan Cantor, the national executive director of the Working Families Party, which is among groups pushing the cause in Maryland, Oregon, Vermont and Washington states, among others.

Advocates say workers shouldn't have to choose between their physical and financial health. And customers and colleagues shouldn't have to be exposed to employees who come to work sick, supporters add.

Camilo Montes is diabetic and has felt ill at times during his six years working at a Queens car wash, but he has stuck it out instead of going home because he doesn't get paid sick days, he said.

Because he's supporting himself and his mother in Veracruz, Mexico, "I can't afford to lose a day's salary," Montes, 46, said through a Spanish interpreter after paid sick leave supporters rallied outside City Hall Wednesday.

But critics say that the government should leave sick day arrangements to workers and bosses and that the requirement will burden small businesses.

"Faced with this increase in costs, employers will seek to offset them in any number of ways, including reducing other benefits employees receive," entrepreneur-turned-politician Mayor Michael Bloomberg wrote in vetoing the measure earlier this month. "... It will harm the very people it seeks to help."

The huge financial information firm he founded, Bloomberg LP, does offer paid sick time, he has noted. But small companies can't afford it, he says.

Under the new law steered by Councilwoman Gale Brewer, employees of businesses with 20 or more workers would get up to five paid sick days a year beginning in April 2014; the benefit would kick in by October 2015 at enterprises with 15 to 19 workers. All others would have to provide five unpaid sick days per year, meaning that workers couldn't get fired for using those days.

The requirements could be postponed if the city's economy takes a major dive.

Employees could choose to work extra hours instead of taking sick time, a provision aimed at those who would rather swap shifts than stay home sick. That provision could be attractive to restaurant servers, for example, since the paid sick time wouldn't include tips.

Manufacturing companies would be exempt from the paid sick time requirement ? the rationale is that they're struggling, Council Speaker Christine Quinn has said ? though workers would still be protected from firing for taking unpaid sick days.

Liquid-cooled rigs are de rigeur for serious PC gamers, but Maingear knows there are plenty who'd rather crowbar headcrabs than fiddle with plumbing. To that end, the company's just buttressed its water-chilled desktop lineup with the Epic Series, consisting of the full-tower Force and mid-sized Rush models. Each pack a "BiTurbo" pump design that keeps things cool in the event of a single pump failure, along with the latest Intel 4th-generation Core i7 or AMD FX processors. As for graphics, you'll get four-way SLI NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan or Radeon HD 7970 GPUs if you opt for the Force model, while the Rush offers two-way GeForce GTX Titan SLI or dual Radeon HD 7990 graphics. There are also numerous memory, storage and static pressure fans using Corsair parts, and custom touches like lighting and Glasurit paint with an "automotive finish." There's no word yet on cost or availability, but that kind of detailing and overclocking power generally comes with a commensurate price -- if that doesn't phase you, check the source for more.

When faced with the choice of sacrificing time and energy for a loved one or taking the self-centered route, people's first impulse is to think of others, according to new research published in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science.

"For decades psychologists have assumed that the first impulse is selfish and that it takes self-control to behave in a pro-social manner," says lead researcher Francesca Righetti of VU University Amsterdam in the Netherlands. "We did not believe that this was true in every context, and especially not in close relationships."

Righetti and colleagues sought to examine whether impulsivity, in close relationships, might actually benefit others.

They found that participants whose self-control was taxed (and were thus more impulsive) were more willing to sacrifice time and energy for their romantic partner or best friend than participants whose self-control wasn't taxed.

In one study, to find out whether they would sacrifice in actual practice, the researchers told couples they would have to talk to 12 strangers and ask them embarrassing questions. The participants didn't know that they wouldn't actually have to follow through with the task.

Participants with high self-control opted to split the burden right down the middle assigning six strangers to themselves and six strangers to their partner. But participants with low self-control opted to take on more of the burden, sacrificing their own comfort to spare their partners.

A final experiment revealed that married individuals low in trait self-control sacrificed more for their partners, yet were also less forgiving of their transgressions presumably because self-control is required to override the focus on the wrongdoing and think instead about the relationship as a whole.

While sacrificing for a partner may help to build the relationship on a day-to-day basis, Righetti and colleagues note that it could backfire over the long-term, compromising individuals' ability to maintain a balance between personal and relationship-related concerns.

This balance is a perennial issue for anyone in a close relationship:

"Whether it's about which activities to engage in during free time, whose friends to go out with, or which city to live in, relationship partners often face a divergence of interests what is most preferred by one partner is not preferred by the other," notes Righetti.

The field of research is relatively new, so the jury is still out on what effects sacrifice has on relationship well-being, but Righetti is hopeful that research over the next few years will shed more light on the link.

Texas abortion bill falls after challenge

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) ? Hundreds of jeering protesters helped stop Texas lawmakers from passing one of the toughest abortion measures in the country, shouting down Senate Republicans and forcing them to miss a midnight deadline to pass the bill.

Initially, Republicans insisted they had started voting before the midnight deadline and passed the bill that Democrats spent much of Tuesday filibustering. But after official computer records and printouts of the voting record showed the vote took place on Wednesday, and then were changed to read Tuesday, senators convened for a private meeting.

An hour later, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst was still insisting the 19-10 vote was in time, but said, "with all the ruckus and noise going on, I couldn't sign the bill."

He denounced the more than 400 protesters who staged what they called "a people's filibuster" from 11:45 p.m. to well past midnight. He denied mishandling the debate.

"I didn't lose control (of the chamber). We had an unruly mob," Dewhurst said. He then hinted that Gov. Rick Perry may immediately call another special session, adding: "It's over. It's been fun. But see you soon."

Sen. Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth, spent most of the day staging an old-fashioned filibuster, attracting wide support, including a mention from President Barack Obama's campaign Twitter account. Her Twitter following went from 1,200 in the morning to more than 20,000 by Tuesday night.

"My back hurts. I don't have a lot of words left," Davis said when it was over and she was showered with cheers by activist who stayed at the Capitol to see her. "It shows the determination and spirit of Texas women."

Davis' mission, however, was cut short.

Rules stipulated she remain standing, not lean on her desk or take any breaks ? even for meals or to use the bathroom. But she also was required to stay on topic, and Republicans pointed out a mistake and later protested again when another lawmaker helped her with a back brace.

Republican Sen. Donna Campbell called the third point of order because of Davis' remarks about a previous law concerning sonograms. Under the rules, lawmakers can vote to end a filibuster after three sustained points of order.

After much back and forth, the GOP voted to end the filibuster minutes before midnight, sparking the raucous response from protesters. As the demonstrators thundered, Campbell urged Senate security to "Get them out! Time is running out. I want them out of here!"

If signed into law, the measures would close almost every abortion clinic in Texas, a state 773 miles wide and 790 miles long with 26 million people. A woman living along the Mexico border or in West Texas would have to drive hundreds of miles to obtain an abortion if the law passes. The law's provision that abortions be performed at surgical centers means only five of Texas' 42 abortion clinics are currently designated to remain in operation.

In her opening remarks, Davis said she was "rising on the floor today to humbly give voice to thousands of Texans" and called Republican efforts to pass the bill a "raw abuse of power."

Democrats chose Davis, of Fort Worth, to lead the effort because of her background as a woman who had her first child as a teenager and went on to graduate from Harvard Law School.

In the hallway outside the Senate chamber, hundreds of women stood in line, waiting for someone to relinquish a gallery seat. Women's rights supporters wore orange T-shirts to show their support for Davis.

The filibuster took down other measures as well. A proposal to fund major transportation projects as well as a bill to have Texas more closely conform with a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision banning mandatory sentences of life in prison without parole for offenders younger than 18 did not get votes. Current state law only allows a life sentence without parole for 17-year-olds convicted of capital murder.

The bill would ban abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy and force many clinics that perform the procedure to upgrade their facilities and be classified as ambulatory surgical centers. Also, doctors would be required to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles ? a tall order in rural communities.

"If this passes, abortion would be virtually banned in the state of Texas, and many women could be forced to resort to dangerous and unsafe measures," said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund and daughter of the late former Texas governor Ann Richards.

Silver At Less Than 19 Dollars An Ounce? Are You Kidding Me ...

By Michael

Silver

The day that silver traders have been waiting for has arrived.? On Wednesday, the price of silver dropped another 5 percent.? As I write this, it is sitting at $18.55 an ounce.? On Wednesday it hit a low that had not been seen in three years.? Overall, the price of silver has declined by?34 percent?this quarter.? That is the largest quarterly move in the price of silver in more than 30 years.? So what does all of this mean?? It means that we are looking at a historic buying opportunity for those that are interested in silver.? Yes, gold is undervalued right now as well, but it is absolutely ridiculous how low the price of silver is.? At the moment, the price of gold is about 66 times higher than the price of silver is.? But they come out of the ground at about a 9 to 1 ratio, and unlike gold, silver is used up in thousands of common consumer products.? Those that want to invest in silver should be shouting for joy that prices have fallen this low.? If you have been waiting and waiting and waiting to ?load the boat?, your moment has arrived.

In my previous articles, I have warned over and over again that we would see wild swings in the prices of gold and silver.? For example, I wrote the following?back in April?

As I mentioned above, gold and silver are going to experience wild fluctuations over the next few years.? When the next stock market crash comes, gold and silver are probably going to go even lower than they are today for a short time.? But in the long run gold and silver are going to soar to unprecedented heights.

Investing in gold and silver is not for the faint of heart.? If you cannot handle the ride, you should sit on the sidelines.? We are entering a period of tremendous financial instability, and holding gold and silver is going to be like riding a roller coaster.? The ups and downs are going to shake a lot of people up, but the rewards are going to be great for those that stick with it the entire time.

Right now, a lot of people that bought silver when it was 25 dollars an ounce or 30 dollars an ounce are probably feeling discouraged.

Don?t be.? You will be just fine.? When the price of an ounce of silver hits 100 dollars an ounce you will be very thankful for the silver that you stored away at those prices.

We are moving into a time when we will see more volatility in precious metals prices than we have ever seen before.? That means there will be some tremendous opportunities to make money.? But in order to make money, you have to buy low and sell high.

The current decline in the price of paper silver does not have anything to do with the demand for actual physical silver.? In fact, demand for physical silver is higher than it ever has been before.

For example, sales of silver coins by the U.S. Mint have set?a brand new all-time record high?during the first half of 2013.

Last year, the U.S. Mint sold 33 million ounces of silver for the entire year.

This year, the U.S. Mint is on pace to sell 50 million ounces of silver for the entire year.

So don?t be alarmed that the price of silver is falling.

Instead, be very, very thankful.

Hopefully it will go even lower.

And you know what?? There is a decent possibility that the price of silver may go down a bit more.? This will especially be true during the initial stages of the next financial panic.

When the price of silver does dip, it is a perfect opportunity to load the boat, because even many mainstream analysts are projecting that the price of silver is headed into the stratosphere over the long-term.? For example, the following is what Citi analyst Tom Fitzpatrick?told King World News?the other day?

Again, if you look at silver going back to the 2008 correction, we got down to levels below $9, then we saw the silver price multiply by a factor of over 5 times. So assuming this marks a point near the end of the correction in silver, then our bias would be one that would take silver not only to new all-time highs, but we would look for a target as high as $100 for silver

A chart illustrating the projections that Fitzpatrick is making can be foundright here.

There are so many reasons to own silver (even as opposed to owning gold).? The following is an excerpt from a?recent article?about silver that really caught my attention?

*****

7. Silver is way below its nominal record price of $50 in 1980.? It is even further below the government inflation adjusted level of $135.? And if you use REAL inflation adjusted numbers, like Shadowstats, the REAL 1980 inflation adjusted price of silver would have to be $450!? Silver is a precious and depleting resource and when you look at the price of housing, cars, education, food, energy, taxes, insurance?back in the 1980?s, it is insane to think that silver is so cheap on any level.? Especially when the uses of silver have skyrocketed since the 1980?s.? It is now used in technology on a massive scale and is even now said to cure cancer.? Heck, they did not even have Silver Eagle sales back then, or the Silver Bullet Silver Shield for that matter.

8. This time it is going to be much larger!? None of the problems from the 2008 Banking Crisis have been solved.? In fact it is orders of magnitudes worse. ? What started out as an institutional? problem, is now a sovereign nation problem.? This collapse will not be a puny multi ? billion dollar corporation like AIG disintegrating, it will be the Trillion dollar economies of the nations of the world and the Quadrillion dollar derivative monster markets cracking apart.? There is no financial, political or social safety net left.? We destroyed all of that in 2008 and are on a debt based junkie delusion.

The collapse of currencies will affect every counter-party, debt based asset in the world.?Your cash, stocks, bonds, Real Estate, pensions, insurance, all of it.? The collapse of financial contracts will lead to the collapse of all political and social contracts.? The Anger Phase of humanity is coming and only real assets with no counter party risk will be worth anything.? Most commodities have storage or degradation issues leaving only precious metals as a real store of wealth.

9. 1:65 Ratio makes silver the only choice.??The current gold to silver ratio is: 1 ounce of gold is worth 65 ounces of silver.? These come out of the ground at a 1:9 ratio!? That means just to get back to the natural mining ratio, silver would have to out perform gold 600%.? This is regardless what happens to the dollar value of gold.? If gold goes to $13,000 an ounce, silver at a 1:9 ratio would be $1,444 silver.

10. The historical stockpiles of silver are destroyed.? We know implicitly that gold has been treasured and kept secure.? While silver has been used and abused as a cheap, industrial metal like tin.? Since the price of silver has been under attack since the Crime of 1873, silver has been used in such small quantities that it has been destroyed.? The US government in 1950 had 5 billion ounces of silver in its strategic stockpile, now it has ZERO. So if gold and silver come out of the ground at a 1:9 ratio and gold has been treasured and silver stockpiles destroyed, logic would dictate that the end of this silver bull market will find the gold to silver ratio BELOW 1:9 and I think it will come close to a 1:1.? Either way, we are a long way away from those levels which makes silver so exciting right now.

It is the destruction of huge stockpiles like this that explains the decade long supply deficit to the growing demand of silver.? Do not forget that we are only 7 years away from the United States Geological Survey?s prediction that if we continue to consume silver at these rates, silver would be the first metal to become extinct.? When I challenged the USGS on that statement,?they said that only a massive revaluation of silver to bring on more production and wiser use of silver would stop the extinction.? I don?t think we will ever run out of silver, but I do believe that the free market will crush this paper manipulation and that anyone holding physical silver on that day will then have a lottery ticket in real value.

You can read the rest of that excellent article?right here.

Do you want some more reasons to own silver?

The following are some excerpts from an excellent article?by Mark Thomas?

*****

The amount of silver consumed annually and bought for investment exceeds currently exceeds total annual mining output and has for years. That gap has been filled by sellers willing to sell from existing inventories and as prices rise. As time passes this will naturally push prices significantly higher until this fundamental imbalance reaches a true equilibrium price where supply is closer to demand.

*****

Both industrial and investment demand for silver is growing in excess of the annual increase in mining production growth. The available inventory is low and will get even tighter over time. These two factors will lead to a continued tighter supply-demand situation going forward.

*****

Silver is an industrial metal with over 10,000 commercial applications. Because it is one of the best electrical and thermal conductors, that makes it ideal for electrical uses such as switches, multi-layer ceramic capacitors, conductive adhesives, and contacts. It is used in some brazing and soldering as well. Silver is also used in solar cells, heated automobile wind shields, DVD?s and some mirrors.

*****

Silver is an essential element in the electronic gadgets that are a growing part of our digital age. It is in every cell phone, smart phone, tablet, computer keyboard, solar cells and every radio frequency if ID device (RFID). This makes it an essential element going forward as the world becomes more addicted to gadgets. The growth and rising living standards of people in the emerging economies will drive long-term growth of new customers that will demand more and more electronic gadgets.

*****

Silver?s industrial demand should increase 60% to 666 million ounces per year by 2016 from 487 million ounces in 2010. Current annual mine production is only around 700 million ounces per year growing a few percent annually.

*****

Of a total of fifty billion ounces of silver that have been mined in history, only two ounces (estimate) or 5% remain in above ground inventories available to be bought and sold. This is due to silver being used up in industrial applications in very small quantities, which makes it unprofitable to recycle at today?s prices. A lot of silver is used in minute quantities in industrial products which are used up and discarded without being recycled.

*****

The total amount of silver available to trade in the physical silver market is only about $70 billion versus the total gold market which now exceeds $4.3 trillion. As you can see from these numbers, the total market size of the silver market is only 1.6% of the size of the entire gold market. This lack of liquidity and use of extreme leverage in its respective futures market produces wild volatility in price fluctuations of silver.

*****

You can read the rest of his excellent article?right here.

Are you starting to get the picture?

Let us hope that the price of silver stays below 20 dollars an ounce for as long as possible, because once this opportunity is gone we will probably never see it again.

It is important to realize where we are in the greater scheme of things.? The world is moving toward another major financial crisis which will usher in a brief period of deflation.? Unlike many others that are talking about the coming economic collapse, I have always maintained that we are going to see deflation first and then the response to the crisis will give us the rip-roaring inflation that so many talk about.? The following is an excerpt from one of my articles?where I talk about this?

So cash will not be king for long.? In fact, eventually cash will be trash.? The actions of the U.S. government and the Federal Reserve in response to the coming financial crisis will greatly upset much of the rest of the world and cause the death of the U.S. dollar.

That is why gold, silver and other hard assets are going to be so good to have in the long-term.? In the short-term they will experience wild swings in price, but if you can handle the ride you will be smiling in the end.

During the initial stages of the next major stock market crash, gold and silver will not do very well.? But that is okay.? Dips are buying opportunities.

As the coming economic crisis unfolds, governments and central banks all over the world will desperately attempt to resuscitate the global financial system.? We are going to see money printing and ?stimulus packages? on a scale that we have never seen before.? Crazy things will happen with stocks, bonds and currencies.

When the dust finally settles, those that are holding ?real money? will be the ones that will be in the best shape.

You Can Have A Better Life By Making These Home Improvements ...

The majority of your life will be spent either at work or at home. Your home has a really large impact on your overall well-being. When your home is a safe and comfortable haven, it provides a place for you to rest and recuperate before you deal with the outside world again. The following article will give you tips to help you make your home comfortable and warm.

Make your comfort a priority when considering home improvements. Home imperfections, something every home has, can cause discomfort and decrease your overall enjoyment of your home, and life in general. Comfort is often thought to be less important than aesthetics, but quality of life is a key to happiness. Therefore the value of comfort should always be a primary consideration. You can make your everyday life much easier by purchasing a new desk chair to replace the old, uncomfortable one. Or try lowering some shelves that have you straining for out-of-reach items. You may be surprised at the difference even a minor change can make.

Even with making the most of your space, you may still feel the need to add on to your house. A home that is orderly and clutter-free can really enhance your quality of life.

Try to add more entertainment features to your home. While it is certainly true that swimming pools and spas are great items to have on your property, less substantial things, such as workout rooms are also highly favored. The other great thing about such features is that they can actually enhance how much your house will ultimately be worth.

Examine how your lights affect the space. Improving the lighting in your home can help diminish eyestrain, open up dark areas, and perk up the ambiance of the house. Installing new lights or, even easier, switching out existing ones is a quick and easy home improvement project, too. For a big change in your home environment, you can change the lights in your home.

An exceptional way to increase your happiness is to green up your home with plants, flowers or shrubs. Design the exterior of the home like a oasis or retreat that you will love to relax in. Not everyone has a green thumb, but if you hire a gardener, you can enjoy the effect without doing the work. You can add some plants around your home to help with the air and stress. Indoors or out, you will find that growing flowers, herbs and vegetables will enlighten your spirit.

Look for ways that you could update your home?s exterior. Simple changes, such as a new roof or a coat of paint, can really make a difference to your home?s exterior. If you like the way the exterior of your residence looks, you will feel proud of your house.

Owning a home is a milestone in your life, and it is a representation of who your are and your lifestyle. You should get involved with home improvement and help add to the value of your home.

How did a third radiation belt appear in the Earth's upper atmosphere?

June 20, 2013 ? Since the discovery of the Van Allen radiation belts in in Earth's upper atmosphere in 1958, space scientists have believed that these belts consisted of two doughnut-shaped rings of highly charged particles -- an inner ring of high-energy electrons and energetic positive ions, and an outer ring of high-energy electrons.

However, in February of this year, a team of scientists reported in the journal Science the surprising discovery of a previously unknown third radiation ring. This narrow ring had briefly circled Earth between the inner and outer rings in September 2012 and then almost completely disappeared.

How did this temporary radiation belt appear and dissipate?

In new research, the radiation belt group in the UCLA Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences explains the development of this third belt and its decay over a period of slightly more than four weeks. The research is available in the online edition of the journal Geophysical Research Letters and will be published in an upcoming print edition.

By performing a "quantitative treatment of the scattering of relativistic electrons by electromagnetic whistler-mode waves inside the dense plasmasphere," the investigators were able to account for the "distinctively slow decay of the injected relativistic electron flux" and demonstrate why this unusual third radiation belt is observed only at energies above 2 mega-electron-volts.

Understanding the processes that control the formation and ultimate loss of such relativistic electrons is a primary science objective of the NASA Van Allen Probe Mission and has important practical applications, because the enormous amounts of radiation the Van Allen belts generate can pose a significant hazard to satellites and spacecraft, as well to astronauts performing activities outside a spacecraft.

The current research was funded by the NASA, which launched the twin Van Allen probes in the summer of 2012.

The lead author of the research is Richard Thorne, a UCLA professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences, who was a co-author of the Feb. 28 research paper in Science. Co-authors of the new research include Wen Li, a graduate student who works in Thorne's laboratory; Binbin Ni, a postdoctoral scholar who works in Thorne's laboratory; Jacob Bortnik, a researcher with the UCLA Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences; Daniel Baker, a professor at the University of Colorado's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics and lead author of the February Science paper; and Vassilis Angelopoulos, a UCLA professor of Earth and space sciences.

EU to decide who pays when banks fail

By John O'Donnell and Robin Emmott

LUXEMBOURG (Reuters) - The European Union will seek on Friday to forge rules to force losses on large savers when banks fail, a sensitive reform that could shape how the euro zone deals with its sickly banks.

Finance ministers in Luxembourg will try to resolve one of the most difficult questions posed by Europe's banking crisis - how to shut failed banks without sowing panic or burdening taxpayers.

"The costs of future restructurings can't be wished away," said a senior EU official involved in the talks. "We need a mechanism to shift the burden away from taxpayers."

The European Union spent the equivalent of a third of its economic output on saving its banks between 2008 and 2011, plundering taxpayer cash but struggling to contain the crisis and in the case of Ireland, almost bankrupting the country.

But France and Germany are divided over how strict the new rules should be, with Paris worried that imposing losses on depositors could prompt a bank run.

A draft EU law that will form the basis of discussions recommends a pecking order in which first bank shareholders would take losses, then bondholders and finally depositors with more than 100,000 euros ($132,000) in their account.

That would make the harsh treatment of savers, which was part of Cyprus's bailout in March, a permanent feature of Europe's response to future banking crises. EU countries would be required to follow these rules when closing banks.

Finding a prompt solution is important as Europe tries to put more than five years of financial turmoil behind it and emerge from economic stagnation.

"We must act now while we still remember the crisis," Erkki Liikanen, a member of the European Central Bank's governing council, said in Brussels before the meeting.

RESISTANCE IN LONDON, PARIS

A central element to ensure the euro zone's long-term survival is a system to supervise, control and support its banks, known as banking union.

Common rules in the wider European Union are considered a stepping stone towards the euro zone's banking union.

Agreeing EU-wide norms would address Germany's demand that European rules on closing banks be in place before the 17-nation euro zone's bailout fund can help banks in trouble.

Euro zone finance ministers agreed late on Thursday to set aside 60 billion euros to help banks via the fund, the European Stability Mechanism.

If agreed, the new EU rules would take effect at the start of 2015 with the provisions to impose losses coming as late as 2018.

Still, the idea has divided EU governments.

Britain and France say countries should have the final word in deciding how to close banks and not be tightly bound by any new EU rules.

But Germany, the Netherlands and Austria want regulations that will be applied in the same way across all 27 countries in the European Union. They fear that granting too much national leeway would undermine the new law.

"Some flexibility might be necessary, but it shouldn't be too much," Joerg Asmussen, the German member of the European Central Bank executive board, told reporters, arguing that investors need to know the rules of the game. ($1 = 0.7590 euros)

American studio claims it designed London 2012's Olympic cauldron

An American design studio has claimed it came up with the idea for the Olympic cauldron made of metal petals and stems long before it became a centrepiece of the London Olympics.

The design, in which the petals were lifted up from the ground to merge together, by Thomas Heatherwick won worldwide acclaim when it was unveiled last year.

But New York studio Atopia now claims, according to The Guardian, it presented an almost identical design to the organisers of the London Olympics in 2007. They also claim to have had the idea of petals for each nation being carried by children into the stadium

Jane Harrison, a director, told the paper: ?It looked identical to something we had proposed to the London Olympic committee back in 2007, after which we hadn't heard anything.?

Atopia saw the design when the Olympics opened last summer but said they were bound by confidentiality rules on companies using the London Olympics to promote themselves. The confidentiality rules were lifted in January.

Heatherwick?s studio said when told of the similarity between the designs: ?This has come completely out of the blue. We have never seen this project before, nor were we made aware of it by Locog. The creative ideas for the cauldron were very much born from a conversation between Danny Boyle and Thomas Heatherwick.?
