Octomom and Frankie Grageda Go on a Date!!!!!

Octomom Nadya Suleman and new boyfriend Frankie Grageda went on a date this week. Stunning and breaking news right there, we know. Breathe.

Who knows how you arrange a babysitter when you have 14 children and a house in foreclosure, but lo and behold, Octomom apparently pulled it off.

Gotta make time for yourself and your love life, right?!

Octo began dating Frankie G, a 23-year-old bodybuilder, two months ago.

That's a decent chunk of time, but the pair had not been able to go on their first real date without the brood until this week, when Frankie stepped up to the plate.

He reportedly got a friend to watch the kids so he could take her to the beach in Santa Monica! There, she reenacted these scenes from the Octomom porn movie.

Just kidding ... but it wouldn't have surprised us.

The two worked out together on the beach, with Frankie Grageda helping her get in shape for her stripper gig at The Playhouse in Hollywood, Fla., on July 13.

These nutrients are among the most important, as a deficiency in either one can have extremely serious and lasting effects on the baby?s mental development. Asparagus, sweet potatoes, avocados, and beets are excellent sources of vitamins and minerals.
Dairy: Yogurt is a good source of calcium and protein and it is an important part of a pregnancy diet as it is easy to digest. Milk and milk products can aggravate nausea and morning sickness but a dry cracker smeared with a little yogurt will help to soothe your digestive tract and reduce morning sickness. Homemade yogurt popsicles are an excellent dessert, especially during hot summer afternoons.

Meat: Skinless poultry, lean meats (98 % fat-free), and fish are healthy sources of proteins, amino acids, and Vitamins A, B, and E. Proteins are the body?s building blocks and so a protein deficiency can impair your baby?s physical development
Nuts & Seeds: Nuts and seeds contain various vitamins as well as minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, and manganese. Morning Snack: A cup of fresh fruit juice with a small bowl of either fruit or vegetable salad would work fine. A fresh fruit smoothie may be a lot more appetizing, but make sure you don?t exceed your caloric requirements.

Lunch: Your lunch should be wholesome and nourishing, so try and include a lot of greens in whatever dish you?re eating. Salads like a Spinach Fettuccine with Chicken and Saut?ed Greens, or Sunset Lentil and Sweet Potato Soup would work well. You could also include a simple pasta dish or a soup like ginger carrot soup.

Dinner: Make sure your dinner isn?t too heavy. You can have a lean meat burger with some lettuce and tomatoes, on a whole wheat bun. You could also opt for a salad meal again with some fruits like oranges and raspberries and greens like lettuce or spinach.

Evening Snack: You can go healthy again with some fruit juice and a bowl of fruit salad, but if you?ve been moderate in your other meals, you?ve probably earned yourself some chocolate chip cookies and muffins. Indulge those taste buds, but don?t pig out!

Meats: Meat products may be consumed in moderation, but you need to make sure that they are well cooked. Avoid eating any raw or undercooked meat, whether poultry or fish, as they pose a high risk of infection.

Cheese: Mould ripened varieties of cheese like camembert and blue-veined cheeses such as stilton should also be avoided, as they contain a bacteria (listeria), which can threaten the unborn child.

Unpasteurized Foods: Avoid the consumption of unpasteurized milk or any dairy product prepared from unpasteurized milk like soft goats? cheese. If you only have access to raw milk, make sure that is boiled.

Caffeine: Your caffeine intake should be severely restricted during pregnancy because of the risk it poses to the baby. In some cases it could even cause a miscarriage. Pregnant women are advised to limit caffeine intake to no more than 200mg of caffeine per day. Caffeine is present not just in tea and coffee, but it is also a common ingredient in many aerated drinks and colas.

Alcohol: Restrict your alcohol intake or abstain completely, as increased alcohol consumption can severely threaten the unborn child.

It is advisable that you maintain high standards of hygiene when handling and preparing meals. Consult with your health care provider for more specific instructions on foods to avoid during pregnancy.

Fish consumption advisory lifted on section of Kalamazoo River affected by Enbridge oil spill

MARSHALL, Mich. (AP) ? The Michigan Department of Community Health has lifted a "Do Not Eat" fish consumption advisory for a stretch of the Kalamazoo River affected by a massive 2010 oil spill.

The announcement Thursday comes as word a much-awaited National Transportation Safety Board report about the cause of the spill is expected to be released July 10.

Officials announced earlier this month that nearly all the river was being reopened for recreation and the cleanup of the spill nearly two years ago is in its final stages.

The MDCH says tests on fish support lifting the advisory.

Calgary, Alberta-based Enbridge Inc.'s pipeline ruptured in July 2010 near Marshall. The pipeline extends from Griffith, Ind., to Sarnia, Ontario.

BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) ? Queen Elizabeth II and a former Irish Republican Army commander offered each other the hand of peace Wednesday in a long-awaited encounter symbolizing Northern Ireland's progress in achieving reconciliation after decades of violence.

The monarch and Martin McGuinness met privately inside Belfast's riverside Lyric Theatre during a cross-community arts event featuring many of Northern Ireland's top musicians, poets and artists. Media were barred from seeing their first handshake, but the two shook hands again a half-hour later for a TV camera and two photographers.

Underlying the sensitivity of the occasion, no live footage or sound was permitted to be broadcast. Outside, flak-jacketed police shut down all roads surrounding the theater and told residents to stay inside their homes.

The first soundless TV footage showed a serious-faced McGuinness walking, hands behind his back, behind the queen as she met poet Michael Longley and pianist Barry Douglas in front of newly painted portraits of them and other Belfast artists. Also in the group was McGuinness' Protestant colleague atop Northern Ireland's unity government, Peter Robinson; the head of state of the Republic of Ireland, President Michael D. Higgins; and the queen's husband, Prince Philip.

Then, more delayed footage showed McGuinness and Robinson standing first in line to shake the queen's hand, then Philip's. McGuinness and Elizabeth exchanged smiles and brief pleasantries.

McGuinness said he told the queen, in Gaelic, "Goodbye and godspeed," and translated the phrase for her. She didn't appear to say anything, just smiled and listened.

The event marked the latest, perhaps ultimate, moment in two decades of Northern Ireland peacemaking that have delivered a series of once-unthinkable moments of compromise.

Experts say McGuinness, 62, was the IRA's chief of staff when the outlawed group assassinated the queen's cousin, Lord Louis Mountbatten, in 1979, one of the most high-profile victims of a four-decade conflict that has claimed 3,700 lives.

The IRA formally abandoned its campaign to force Northern Ireland out of the United Kingdom and disarmed in 2005. Two years later, McGuinness became the senior Catholic politician in a new unity government, the central objective of Northern Ireland's 1998 peace accord. His coalition with Robinson has governed Northern Ireland in cooperation with Britain in surprising harmony since.

McGuinness' Irish nationalist party, Sinn Fein, had refused all contact with British royals until Wednesday. Its leaders were heavily criticized last year for boycotting the queen's first-ever state visit to the Republic of Ireland, a widely celebrated event that demonstrated overwhelming Irish desire for strong relations with Britain.

The queen came to Belfast on Wednesday as part of U.K.-wide celebrations of her 60th year on the throne. She is scheduled later in the day to see the city's new Titanic exhibition and attend an open-air party involving more than 20,000 locals at Stormont, the hilltop base for Northern Ireland's power-sharing government.

IRA die-hards opposed to the group's 2005 decision to renounce violence and disarm sought to express their disapproval of the queen's visit before she arrived.

Police said nine officers were injured, none seriously, during overnight rioting on the edge of Catholic west Belfast. They said a crowd of about 100 teens and young men bombarded police units with 21 petrol bombs and other makeshift weapons. ?There? is the economic future we want for America: a vibrant, creative, full-employment economy firing on all cylinders and growing at twice the current rate. ?Here? is the U.S. circa 2012, with our aging, deteriorating infrastructure: highways, bridges, railways, airports, seaports, electrical grid, and communications networks.

Historically, one of America?s greatest advantages has been its superior infrastructure: more than 500 primary airports; some 3.9 million miles of public roads, including more than 47,000 miles of interstate highway; 120,000 miles of major rail; 2 million miles of oil and natural gas pipeline; more than 300 ports.

Most of the assets we categorize as infrastructure move people, goods, and information from here to there: roads, bridges, ports, waterways, rail, transit systems, airports, air traffic control, and the national information (broadband) infrastructure. Other assets include the electric power grid, dams, drinking water systems, and wastewater and hazardous waste facilities.

But we?ve been shortchanging ourselves for years, failing to maintain them, let alone significantly adding to capacity like we should have been. And our economy is already paying the price.

The Economic Development Research Group, for example, estimates that deficiencies in our roads, bridges, and transit systems cost the economy about $130 billion in 2010. The American Society of Civil Engineers estimates that service interruptions and bottlenecks in the electrical power grid will cost businesses and households some $197 billion by 2020.

Expanding and modernizing America?s infrastructure is an investment, not consumption. It not only creates economic value?it improves U.S. competitiveness.

Most Americans take these things for granted until there are problems: Carcinogens show up in our drinking water; the air traffic control system hiccups, tying up air traffic; a highway bridge collapses; New York City experiences a blackout. Then they notice.

The Chinese understand how important it is to get there from here. As a consequence, they?re investing heavily in infrastructure, adding a reported 56 new airports in the next five years alone and 186,000 miles of new roads, among other assets.

Roads, bridges, ports, airports, air traffic control, and electricity and information distribution systems don?t maintain and expand themselves. Washington must make them a priority. The longer we wait, the more it will cost.

California foreclosure prevention bill is likely to advance

SACRAMENTO ? After six months of wrangling, California lawmakers put the finishing touches on what they hope will be compromise foreclosure-prevention legislation.

The measure is part of a larger Homeowner Bill of Rights package of bills sponsored by state Atty. Gen. Kamala D. Harris aimed at helping borrowers who are behind on mortgage payments avoid foreclosures. A draft of the bill was made public late Friday.

The bill would lock into California law many of the terms of a national foreclosure lawsuit settlement with five big banks.

California has been hit hard by a wave of foreclosures that started in the recession of 2007-09. Last year, 38 of the nation's 100 most foreclosure-prone ZIP Codes were in the state.

"The California Homeowner Bill of Rights will help ensure that struggling California borrowers with the means and desire to stay in their homes will have real access to a process that will allow them to do so," Harris said in a statement.

A two-house legislative conference committee is expected to approve the bill, SB 900, next week and send the package to the floors of both the state Assembly and Senate for final debates and votes.

Passage by the conference committee, which has four majority Democratic and two Republican members, is considered assured now that a key, business-friendly Democrat, Sen. Ron Calderon of Montebello, has signaled his support.

"I followed two key principles throughout the development of the conference committee report: fair treatment of borrowers and the need to keep California's economic recovery on track," Calderon said. "Losing a home to foreclosure is a heartbreak that should be avoided whenever and wherever possible. Californians can rest assured that the conference committee report tackles the most egregious behavior displayed throughout the foreclosure crisis."

The bill contains a number of provisions that have rankled bankers, mortgage servicers and their allies in the real estate industry.

One such provision would require mortgage loan servicers to give their borrowers a single point of contact instead of bouncing them around from office to office.

A second would limit banks' ability to begin a foreclosure process if the borrowers have filed documents requesting a loan modification that would lower their monthly payments.

A third would give homeowners the ability to sue servicers, under certain restrictions, alleging that they were wrongly foreclosed upon.

"I think this is a product that represents a lot of significant compromises but, at the end of the day, is a step forward," said Paul Leonard, director of the Center for Responsible Lending in Oakland.

Mortgage bankers declined to comment on the substance of the bill, saying they had not fully reviewed the 23-page document.

However, Dustin Hobbs, a spokesman for the California Mortgage Bankers Assn., said his group's members were disappointed that the Democrat-dominated committee is "rushing" to a vote, "giving interested parties and the public virtually no time to digest the information and provide substantial feedback."

Losing weight is often a momentous moment in any woman?s life, but it seems that other people don?t revel in that glory.
A new study has revealed that even when a woman loses a significant amount of weight, her friends, family and colleagues will still think of her as fat.

Even if you?ve gone from a size 20 to a size 12, the stigma of obesity never quite leaves you, say scientists, who stress that other people may still label you as greedy and lazy.

The unfair stigma was identified by researchers at Manchester University, along with their counterparts at the University of Hawaii and Monash University in Melbourne. Using volunteers to assess the outward appearance of women, some of whom had previously been fat, the scientists identified a definite obesity-related negativity. Even when the volunteers were complete strangers to the women being assessed, they still marked them down for having been fat before.

The 273 volunteers were asked to look at pictures of five women, all 31, and given notes about each. They then had to rate their attractiveness and asked if they liked them or not.

Of the five women, one had been slim all her life, another had been overweight all her life while the other three had previously been fat but had lost five stone to become a normal size.

Most volunteers regarded the woman who had always been slim as the most attractive, with the ones who had previously been obese but had lost weight lagging behind. Watching the volunteers, the scientists recorded that they also made negative comments about these women and had what they called ?fat prejudices?.

The researchers pointed out that the obesity stigma was so ?powerful and enduring that it may even outlast the obesity itself.?
They also highlighted how we as a society need to address our attitudes to obesity; after all, encouraging the obese to lose weight for their own health should be a positive thing.

Said Dr Kerry O?Brien from Manchester University?s School of Psychological Sciences: ?Many people who are perceived as ?fat? are struggling in vain to lose weight in order to escape this painful social stigma.

?We need to rethink our approaches to and views of weight and obesity. Given the great number of people who may be negatively affected by this prejudice, obesity discrimination needs to be reduced.?

Presentation Zen: Ichi ju san sai: A lesson in less-is-more

A couple of years ago, two of my students created a presentation extolling the virtues of eating a traditional Japanese diet and encouraged their fellow students?with evidence and anecdotes?to eat much less fast food. The secret to a healthy life, they said, was eating a traditional Japanese diet inspite of the ubiquitous fast food options in today's Japan. In this presentation they introduced a simple phrase ? ichi ju san sai?which many students had not thought about, although they had heard the term before. Japanese cooking is in part based on the principle called ichi ju san sai (????) or one soup and three side dishes (plus rice). The ichi ju san sai pattern goes back several centuries in Japan. The three side dishes usually have a main dish plus two lesser dishes. The main dish is often a protein like fish and the lesser dishes might include items such as tufu or potatoes or vegetables like carrots, daikon radish, burdock root, and so on. And a typical meal is served with tsukemono (Japanese pickles) on the side as well. With this kind of meal it is very easy to follow the hara hachi bu principle (eat until 80% full) while still feeling satisfied.

ABOVE Here is one of their slides sketched first on the whiteboard. Later they took their own photos and built there images in slideware, but occasionally students sketch all their slides like this on a whiteboard and then take pictures of each sketch with text and use those images to fill the full frame in their slides.

A lesson in variety & balance
We can apply the spirt of ichi ju san sai to other aspects of our creative lives, including presentations. For example, ichi ju san sai is good for achieving a relatively low-calorie but nutrient-rich diet. A lot of fast food reverses this equation?high-calorie, nutrient-weak?especially when sugary drinks are added. In a similar way, many effective presentations are relatively short in terms of time but rich in content and meaning (and relevance, inspiration, etc.). Good presentations subtract the superfluous and add the meaningful and are efficient with time. However, ineffective presentations are often weak in relevant content and meaning but nonetheless take a very long time to deliver.

The principle behind ichi ju san sai is a good lesson in achieving variety & balance through simplicity. With food we need a variety of different sources from which we get our calories. The ichi ju san sai principle encourages variety and adjusting menu items to include what is in season, ensuring the freshest of content. Variety and balance are keys to many aspects of our lives, however, including education ? how we learn and help others to learn ? and our pursuit to make a contribution in the world and find some bit of happiness and fulfillment while doing so. We need security and reassurance and we get that through routine and exposure to the known and the expected, but we also crave variety. No variety, no life.

Future

Looking back to the future
The photo above is of one of their pre-slide sketches which features the phrase ???? (onko chishin) which means something similar to "visit the past to understand the new" or "learn from the past." My students are calling this "Back to the Future." That is, there is much to be learned, they said, from the past and that we are well advised to bring some of those things from traditional "old Japan" with us to the future, such as the healthy, sustainable, and delicious eating habits of the past including the ichi ju san sai approach. The secret to the future, at least when it comes to cooking and eating they said, is to look back to discover lessons from the past that we may use to improve our present. This principle too has many applications for our personal and professional lives today.

You should not forget the important tool of social media in today?s market. In fact, a Twitter or Facebook account with follows that make up your buying population is one of the best ways to market your real estate, with the ability to update potential clients of brand new listings in real time.

It isn?t just real estate marketing that has changed, the very basic ways that people do their shopping for just about everything has changed, and so has the way that folks communicate. The internet is a brand new frontier for business and it is a integral tool in today?s world. Businesses that don?t use the internet will be compared to businesses ten years ago that were still using paper filing and a typewriter rather than the computer. However, with this new age comes brand new opportunities to put your products in front of customers as well.

Breast cancer is not a single disease, but a collection of diseases with dozens of different mutations that crop up with varying frequency across different breast cancer subtypes. Deeper exploration of the genetic changes that drive breast cancer is revealing new complexity in the leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide.

In one of the largest breast cancer sequencing efforts to date, scientists from the Broad Institute, the National Institute of Genomic Medicine in Mexico City, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have discovered surprising alterations in genes that were not previously associated with breast cancer. They report their results in the June 21 issue of Nature, which is publishing a series of papers characterizing the genomic landscape of breast cancer.

One of the team?s new findings, a recurrent fusion of the genes MAGI3 and AKT3 in what is known as a translocation event, was observed in tumors from a rare but aggressive form of breast cancer known as triple-negative breast cancer. This cancer does not respond to conventional hormone therapy because its tumors lack three receptors that fuel most breast cancers: estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (known as HER2). But the biological pathway that is affected by the MAGI3-AKT3 reshuffling is already the target of experimental drugs.

The other new alteration reported by the team occurred in two transcription factor genes. Recurrent mutations were detected in the gene CBFB and deletions of its partner RUNX1. Cancer-causing rearrangements of these two genes are common in blood cancers, such as acute myeloid leukemia, but their discovery in breast cancer marks the first time they have been seen in a solid cancer.

?These genes wouldn?t top the list of genes you think would be mutated in breast cancer,? said Alfredo Hidalgo Miranda, co-senior author of the paper and head of the cancer genomics laboratory at the National Institute of Genomic Medicine, known by its Spanish acronym INMEGEN. ?That?s exactly the point of doing this type of analysis. It gives you the opportunity to find those genes that you never thought would be involved in the breast cancer process.?

The scientists studied two kinds of samples. They sequenced the whole exomes ? the tiny fraction of the genome that encodes proteins of 103 breast cancer tumors and DNA from normal tissue from patients in Mexico and Vietnam. They also sequenced the entire genomes of 22 breast cancer tumors and matched normal tissue.

Their analysis confirmed the presence of previously known mutations, but it also turned up the unsuspected alterations.

?One of the lessons here is the real diversity of mutations in breast cancer. I think it?s clear there are going to be roughly 50 or so different mutated genes in breast cancer,? said Matthew Meyerson, co-senior author of the paper, Broad senior associate member, and professor of pathology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. ?There?s a big diversity of driver genes in cancer. We don?t understand what all of them are, but larger data sets will enable us to identify them.?
