Andy Murray Cries During Wimbledon Runner-Up Speech

Andy Murray's Wimbledon runner-up speech left the tennis star in tears Sunday afternoon, and likely had more than a few onlookers welling up, too.

With girlfriend Kim Sears, along with Kate and Pippa Middleton, looking on, Murray wept in a post-match interview following his loss to Roger Federer.

When a BBC interviewer asked him about the emotions he felt over the fortnight, he (and Sears) broke down while the Centre Court crowd applauded ...

The interviewer's empathy was as powerful as Murray's sadness. Everyone, from Federer to Murray to the fans, truly felt for the 25-year-old Andy.

With the hopes of a nation riding on his shoulders, Murray looked poised to stun Federer and capture his first Grand Slam title. Didn't happen.

"I'm getting closer," he joked at the start, wounded but proud, defeated but respectful and classy, head sinking low while at the same time held high.

The Scotland native failed to deliver the UK its first homegrown champion of the famed tournament in 76 years, but is clearly a big winner at life.
